Hoburne cotswolds is home to more than 300 Holiday lodges and cottages with communal facilities for the residents. Hoburne Cotswolds is located in a hard water area and has been experiencing issues with scale including Efficiency losses, blocked valves, increased energy costs and cleaning requirements, boiler breakdowns and poor surface appearances on shower screens and porcelain surfaces.
The site is supplied boosted cold water from a large 180,000 litre tank located near the entrance. This supply serves the individual heating systems in each lodge and the main complex, domestic water services and facilities around the site such as swimming pools and shower rooms.
Hoburne required a solution which would reduce the effects of scale and maintain water quality whilst retaining low maintenance costs, limiting environmental impact and protecting the boilers around the site.
The prefabricated water treatment plant powered by Caltac technology has been designed and developed to meet Hoburne’s requirements. The containerised solution features eight Caltac units with insulated stainless steel pipework, turbo pre-filter, lighting, frost protection heating and power sockets for maintenance.
The caltac from Calmag is our industry leading technology utilises template assisted crystallization media. the TAC media first converts dissolved hardness into microscopic crystals in atomic sized nucleation sites, once the crystals grow to a certain size they are released. The crystals are retained in solution, unable to form scale or interfere with soap, ensuring pipework, equipment, outlets and ancillaries remain free of scale. TAC media has demonstrated 99.6% effectiveness at removing the effects of scale by an independent study conducted by the Water Reuse Research Foundation.
Caltac benefits over traditional water softener technology requiring far reduced servicing, zero water wastage and no electricity usage.
When compared to scale reducing technologies caltac offers 2-3 times performance increases, with reduced maintenance requirements and operational cost. Our provisional calculations determine that the caltac technology will reduce annual ongoing costs by up to 88 percent.
Low Cost, Low Maintenance 99.6% Scale Prevention!
Hamwic TS working in partnership with Nijhius have recently completed the installation of our water treatment plant to Hoburne Cotswolds, delivering low cost, low maintenance and high efficiency scale prevention.
Our solution includes a fully prefabricated containerised water treatment plant, fabricated by Quinns Ltd. The team fully insulated and boarded the unit before providing full mechanical and electrical installation. The water treatment plant was delivered to site and connected to the main system with minimal down time and interruption, even in peak summer conditions!
Nijhius fully managed the site teams and building phases ensuring that the installation of the plant and delivery of the system did not affect residents of the site.
The water treatment plant utilises Calmag CalTAC technology, Water Softening without the salt, hassle and cost! We have a solution!
CalTAC by Calmag Ltd, the leading alternative to traditional water softening technology.
CalTAC utilises TAC (Template Assisted Crystallisation) Media delivering proven effective chemical-free scale prevention, with independent laboratory testing achieving a 99.6% effectiveness rating*
CalTAC benefits:
- Reduced Cost compared to a Traditional Water Softener and other Scale Reducing Technologies
- 2-3x Performance over Magnetic (35-45%) / Zinc Sacrificial Anode (35-25%) scale reducing technology (CalTAC up to 99.6%)
- Zero water wastage (Backwash, Regeneration Cycles)
- Zero brine discharge
- Zero salt or chemical usage
- Zero operating energy (Electricity)
- Reduced Ongoing Maintenance (Every ~3 Years)
- Can be used on Heating System and Hot Water Services increasing efficiency by up to 15%**
